Aug 2: “God and Guns?” with The Rev. Marc Smith

After a violent summer, many across our country, including people of faith, are asking questions about gun violence. What are the public health challenges raised by high gun-ownership? Is the “right to bear arms” a sacred right? How can we alleviate the suffering happening especially in communities of color?

Our presenter, the Rev. Marc Smith has been newly named the Deputy for Gun Violence Prevention by Bishop Wayne Smith, bishop of the Episcopal church in the diocese of Missouri. Marc had a 35 year academic medicine and health care executive career before becoming an Episcopal priest. He has served on multiple local, regional and national health care boards and commissions.
